About Me

JIMA: I am a rapper living in Hobart, Tasmania. I was born in Ethiopia but I grew up in Keya. My family are from Sudan and I am Dinka. I write, sing, perform and produce my own music. I also collaborate with a group called 'The 5 G's". We got together and started in Tasmania in 2005. We work together but we also do our own music seperately. The main message of my music is to explain about my life, what has happened to my people, what is happening in Sudan, Africa and the world. This is important to me because i believe in equality and justice. We all need this to live and it is not right that some people do not have it. I am inspired by Tupac, John Gareng, a politician from Sudan and other people who have fought for justice in the past. Music is my first passion but i also like talking to people, teaching them and explaining about my culture, Africa and I want to inspire other people. I am 21 and in the future I want to succeed in the music industry and pass my message around the world.
